Today the littles came back to school. Did I tell you Tuesday how cute they are? Oh my gosh are they cute!! We all enjoyed another day to love on them and teach them new things.
Thursday afternoon we had VBS in Batey Campina again. We were very busy and hot! We sang songs, colored a picture and taught a lesson in the small church. Afterwards, we played games and just enjoyed time together with our new friends!
One more night here in the DR.
This morning on the bus ride to pick up the elementary kids we saw the sugars cane workers cutting, loading and weighing the stalks of sugar cane. Most of the students fathers work in the sugar cane fields.
This morning the 1-5th graders were back for “English Camp”
(Gina’s sponsor kids update) Jason, the president of Freedom went back out to 2 bataya’s and found our sponsored girls. They have not been at school yet this week due to summer break and “camps” not being required. Jason found Bebé had moved to a new house in another Bataya and Genesis was visiting an Aunt also in another Bataya. Thankfully, we were able to have them here today and love on them. It is amazing to see how much they have changed and grown up. They also speak complete sentences in English!!! Woohoo!
This afternoon we had Bible camp. It was really HOT out in the open field!! The kids competed in a relay race on an obstacle course. Most of us have also memorized and acted out our memory verse for the show on Friday!
It’s been a very busy day here in the DR. We are all headed to bed soon!
This morning the 3’s, 4’s and 5 year olds came for camp. A LOT OF THEM!! Today is the first day the 3 year olds have ever been to school. The first day many of them have been away from their mom and for a lot of them, the first time they had ever left their bataya. There were many tears and trips to the corner for some of them but, for the most part they all did very well today!
And they are all SO CUTE!!!
This afternoon we went to Bataya Campina to do VBS. We walked through the village to round up kids to join us in the little church. We sang, heard a lesson in Spanish and colored a picture with them before heading out to play. It was SO HOT in that little church. We were all dripping sweat as we listened to our leaders. After VBS was over we went outside to play. We brought bubbles, balls, jump ropes, nail polish and our our own backs for piggyback rides. It was a lot of fun.
We were all thankful for our cold shower and dinner tonight!!
